The Debris Don't Matter.....
The Debris Don't Matter.....
Gospel of Mark 2 vs 1-12
"...... When Jesus returned to Capernaum several days later, the news spread quickly that he was back home. 2 Soon the house where he was staying was so packed with visitors that there was no more room, even outside the door. While he was preaching God’s word to them, 3 four men arrived carrying a paralyzed man on a mat. 4 They couldn’t bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, so they dug a hole through the roof above his head. Then they lowered the man on his mat, right down in front of Jesus. 5 Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My child, your sins are forgiven.”..... New Living Translation.
In the above bible verses, taking from the gospel of Mark 2, Jesus just got back from travelling to preach and I suppose someone who had travelled to preach from place to place deserved to rest. Instead, news of his return boomed faster than the wave of sound, and people came seeking Him immediately without wasting time. His return must be such great news to more than many, as crowd of people pulled up at His home. There were many people there, that the entrance was blocked and the house was jam packed. These people that came to hear Him teach them the word of God must have come with various needs cause while Jesus was teaching the people with Him, four friends who had a paralysed man brought their friend to the house meeting with the determination of making sure that Jesus got to heal their friend.
These men needed a miracle for their paralysed friend and it has to be that very day. For who knows if Jesus would be around the very next day, seeing He is a much sort after preacher. Hence they relentlessly sort out a way to reach Jesus at all cost. They obviously arrived late cause the house was fully packed and the entrance to the house was blocked. These four friends were faith filled for they stopped at nothing until they reached Jesus. They did not let the thought of the blocked entrance stop them, rather, they quickly thought of another option. Remaining mindless of the entrance that was blocked, They looked for another way. Without doubt, people must be sitting on the window ledges and some standing by the windows. Everyone came for a reason. Everyone came to receive from Jesus. Everyone therefore has to secure their space.
These four friends were determined and they thought..... the roof must come off! Even if they had to repair the roof after wards, no problem! They didn't mind and didn't even care what Jesus would think or say. Through the roof is the only available option and through the roof it is! More so, there was no one sitting or standing on the roof. Therefore, the roof has to come off. What a ridiculous idea! But then it worked! These four friends did not just think the option and ponder on the option instead they acted on the option. They climbed to the top of the house, began to take off the roof layer by layer until they made a hole, big enough to let down their friend right in front of Jesus. Amazing! What an unflinching faith they had! So what did Jesus do seeing His roof being taken off? Was He angry? Was He put off? What exactly did He do?
It really must interest you to want to know what Jesus did as these men yanked off His roof right above His head. How did he react to the debris falling on His head, His disciples’ heads and the other people’s heads inside the house with Him. How did He react to the dust and the damages been done to His house? What really were these men thinking? And do you think everybody just kept quiet whilst these men were taking off the roof? There would be murmurings, whispers ,side talk and hisses. Definitely some would be wondering why Jesus was not saying anything and some would be hoping he would stop these crazy men at some point. They did interrupt the meeting and Jesus did not seem to be bothered at all! But why? They caught His attention, their faith stopped Him in His track.
Their act of faith mesmerised Him undoubtedly and He must have paused on His teaching. I am so sure Jesus just kept mute, beaming with smiles, enjoying the parade of their faith. I can tell you without doubt that Jesus was pleased with those men. He did not mind that they took off His roof, He did not mind the debris, the dust or the mess they have made. It was a really pleasurable moment to Him, seeing such determined faith and determined men lowered the paralysed from through the roof. It was a spectacular show of faith, He did not even reprimand them not a word did He utter to them after they put up such show of faith.
Continuing from verse six to twelve of the book of Mark, let us find out what happened to the paralysed man after He was lowered right in front of Jesus......
6 But some of the teachers of religious law who were sitting there thought to themselves, 7 “What is he saying? This is blasphemy! Only God can forgive sins!”
8 Jesus knew immediately what they were thinking, so he asked them, “Why do you question this in your hearts? 9 Is it easier to say to the paralyzed man ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or ‘Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk’? 10 So I will prove to you that the Son of Man[a] has the authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, 11 “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!”
12 And the man jumped up, grabbed his mat, and walked out through the stunned onlookers. They were all amazed and praised God, exclaiming, “We’ve never seen anything like this before!”
Is it not really amazing? Jesus did not mind and He did heal the paralytic. The dust, the dirt falling on Him did not bother Him. He was much more impressed with the men's faith, in His willingness to heal irrespective of the situation. He did not even rebuke them rather He embraced their determination to see the paralytic being healed.
My friend, Jesus wants to help you, He is not seeing you as a Muslim, He sees you as the one He died for. You are very precious to Him. Jesus paid the ransom for your soul. The sufferings He endured and the beatings He received, that you do not believe happened to Him procured your healing. If you would by faith, connect with the works of Jesus and believe in Him, He can heal and He will heal you, He will be most delighted. Jesus is no ordinary human being as every Muslim has been taught to believe, Jesus is the Son of God..... I know you do not want to hear that as it is contrary to your belief but then it is an absolute truth.
Jesus is divine, He only became a man but He is not a man. It does not matter what you have been taught about Him, if you would believe, if you would just believe, I tell you that sickness, that disease that want to take you down would give way and give up In the Name of Jesus! Regardless of what stage the sickness has gotten to, it is never too late with Jesus. The same power available to Him when He was on earth is still with Him. He has not relinquish the POWER and He never will! Jesus loves you!
